The Historic Greer Depot is an historic landmark which should be treated with respect. The following usage rules must be followed by Clients, Client’s guest and vendors.
1. Decorations:
- With the limited exception of unity candles used during wedding ceremonies and Sterno fuel used for warming of foods by caterers, no open flames of any kind are allowed in the venue. Venue staff reserves the right to halt the use of any candle it deems to be unsafe.
- Absolutely no rice, glitter, confetti, sparklers, or fireworks may be used on the property. Birdseed or lavender may be used outside only.
- Nothing may be taped or affixed to any walls, doors, windows, or hardware without the permission of venue staff. Gaffer tape may be used on floors only.
- When loading and unloading, we ask that nothing be dragged on the floors. If an item is too heavy to carry, it must be moved on a rubber wheel-equipped appliance.
- All decorations should be removed by the Client at the conclusion of the event. Anything left behind will be discarded and a fee charged for its disposal.
2. Guest conduct:
All Event guests should conduct themselves in an appropriate manner in conformance with the following rules:
- Absolutely no smoking is allowed anywhere on the premises; either indoors or on the deck.
- No illegal drugs or paraphernalia are allowed on the property.
- Guests may not engage in any kind of profanity, altercations, or violence.
- Clients, guests, and vendors, alike, should treat venue staff with respect and avoid verbally or physically abusing staff in any way.
- Guests exhibiting any of the aforementioned behavior will be asked to leave the property immediately.
3. Security:
One or two off-duty police or other armed security guards (s) will be furnished by the venue to enhance the safety of Client and Client’s guests at all events serving alcohol. The fees for such security are charged at a rate of $50.00 / hour per security guard and are in addition to the venue rental fee. The second security guard will be required for events with over 145 attendees.
- Security must be on-site 30 minutes before the serving of alcohol begins and at least 30 minutes after it concludes.
- Management reserves the right to charge the client for additional security time if an unsafe situation requires security to stay longer than the scheduled time. Fees for any additional time will be charged at a rate of $75.00 / hour per security guard.
4. Alcohol:
Client will select an approved bartending service for wine, beer and liquors / cocktails. All alcohol service shall be in conformance with the following rules:
- Bartenders / Caterers must provide safe alcohol service, including requiring all guests to show a legal form of ID.
- Bartenders reserve the right to discontinue service to a guest if they are intoxicated.
- Last Call will occur 30 minutes prior to the designated conclusion of Client’s Event.
- Alcoholic beverages may not be taken off the premises.
5. Vendors:
HGD has assembled a list of excellent, experienced caterers, musicians, photographers, florists, bakers and other services that you are free to choose from. HGD requires its Clients to choose their preferred vendor(s) from the venue’s Approved Vendor List as these vendors are familiar with our policies and we trust that they will work hard to make your event a resounding success. All vendor services are in addition to the venue rental fee. The Approved Vendor List can be found on our website.
6. Entertainment / Sound:
Musicians, bands, and audio engineers are listed on the Venue’s Approved Vendor List. Their fees are in addition to the venue rental fee. The use of any outside musicians, bands, and audio engineers must be approved by HGD.
7. Furniture and Equipment:
HGD will provide all tables, chairs, dance floors, tents, heaters, etc., for all Events and are in addition to the venue rental fee. The use of specialty equipment not normally provided by the venue must be approved by HGD.
8. Cleanup and Trash Removal:
Clients are responsible for disposing of their own trash in the trash receptacles provided by HGD within the venue, prior to Client’s departure. Client will be charged a standard cleaning fee of $250.00 for each Event rental.
9. Damages:
The Client assumes all responsibility for damage to the Historic Greer Depot property and for leaving the premises in the same condition in which it was found. The cost to cure such damage or theft will be deducted from the security deposit. Should the cost to cure exceed the $500.00 security deposit, the client will be billed for any additional amount in excess thereof. Damages may include but are not limited to:
- Stains on the flooring, linens or walls including wine, wax, gum, chocolate, coffee, tea, soda, food, grease and / or burns.
- Damage to walls, paint, furniture, linens, rentals or other equipment.
- Clogged toilet and sink drains in restrooms.
- Damage to the exterior structure including bricks, decking or landscaping.
- Any theft of venue property.
10. Active Track:
The Depot building is located proximate to an active railroad track. Entrance upon the railroad right-of-way is extremely dangerous and unlawful. No one, including Client, Client’s guests, or vendors is permitted to walk or drive a vehicle on the track side of the Depot building, nor come within Twenty-Five (25) feet of the nearest rail of the track on either side of the building or otherwise enter the railroad right-of-way. Client is responsible for warning all Event attendees of the danger of passing trains and their absolute compliance with this Rule.
11. Smoking:
The Depot and its surroundings are smoke free, with the sole exception of passing locomotives. Smoking is prohibited both indoors and outside on the deck. This is both a health precaution to protect individuals from second-hand smoke and a safety precaution to protect the Historic Greer Depot from fire hazards. Please inform your guests of this restriction. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
12. Renter’s Age:
The renter of the facility shall be at least 25 years of age.
13. Renter’s Presence:
The renter must be present during the period of the reservation from set-up through clean-up.
14. Supervision of Children:
Children under the age of 13 must be supervised at all times. HGD is not responsible for unattended children.
15. Disclaimers:
- HGD is not responsible for damage to or theft of equipment used or left behind.
- HGD will notify the coordinator of any equipment left behind and will allow Five (5) days for its retrieval. At that time, the items will be disposed of at the discretion of HGD.
- HGD reserves the right to revoke permission granted to any organization or individual who is found to be in breach of these Rules.
- Clients who fail to obey these Rules may be asked to leave the premises, shall forfeit all monies paid, and shall be denied future rental use.
16. Noise Levels:
No person, DJ or band shall make, assist in making, permit or allow any unreasonable noise between the hours of 10 PM to 8 AM. Events playing music past 10 PM must keep all doors closed. Sound levels shall not exceed 95-98 decibels measured at 100 feet from the source of the amplified sound. Please help to consistently minimize the noise levels by informing the event party of the noise ordinance before the Event.
17. State and Federal Laws:
All South Carolina State Laws and Federal Laws must be adhered to at all times.
